I’m working on transferring all of my translations to Divinitor. Developer K released DPS rankings for CDN a while back.
Date Range: October 1, 2017 to October 19, 2017 (correlates with patch 95.4)
Target Version: CDN
Amount of aggregate data: approximately 150,000 (1 partition)
Target Content: Level 95 nests, excluding 8-man Hardcore content.
I checked the data personally and 8-man dragon nests are missing. It is too late to redo the study, but I do not think there is much of a difference.
They have different preferences. CDN loves Swordsman. There are some outliers, but overall, the data does not differ much from KDN’s. I will upload KDN’s when it is ready.
CDN is about two months behind KDN. Please note that some updates were not available to them during this timeframe, including Soul Eater’s and the Lencea Awakening.
Translation Note: As such, CDN was missing updates for Mercenary, Acrobat, Silver Hunter, Priest, Ray Mechanic (Singularity), Screamer, Oracle Elder, Reaper, Raven (Chain Punisher, Crow Storm, Guillotine Cross, Star Combination), Lencea, and heals.
I will continue to update the data, as I think it will prove useful in the long run.
We have ranked class popularity using data from 150,000 dungeon runs.
I want to discuss the details. First, when we look at the rankings…
In general, if the class performs well, it will be popular. If the class performs poorly, it will be unpopular.
I am sorry that I have been unable to balance the classes better, since popularity is apparently affected by performance.
As you might know already, when you clear a dungeon, all buffs are wiped and the game automatically saves your DPS.
Users were grouped by their damage range, and we have summarized the ranking of the users with the highest DPS classes in each group.
I think we should target the average among the groups (400k, 500k, 600k, all characters, overall average) to understand the classes better.
Indeed, I did not deliberately categorize the classes as such.
The goal is not to simply rank the classes, but also to look at the details.
After hearing the general consensus regarding class balance, I want to increase people’s faith in our balancing patches.
As you can see, this kind of classification will guide class balancing in the right direction.
(Anyways, weak characters are weak regardless of how we classify them.)
People play classes differently, so there is noise in the data when we try to average it.
If you look at the overall average, Ray Mechanic drops from 1st place to 12th place. There were a lot of newer players who brought the average down.
I will continue to monitor the situation and listen to your opinions, and if there is a better way of classification, I will modify it.
First, it is good to look at the classes first when you see the balancing notes (how difficult they are to play).
While equality between classes is important, gameplay experience and improvement of skill usability are also important.
The DPS rankings here will be useful to see how balanced the classes are, and we will listen to your opinions on how skill usability has improved.
When we release the DPS rankings, various opinions surface, there will be communication clashes as people try to confirm the classes’ situations.
Perhaps the main reason that game companies do not release DPS data is because of concerns about the ruckus it would cause.
Regardless of the current balancing situation, all of you are entitled to complain about your character. Even though you might have different opinions, please respect your opponent.
I hope that being transparent with the data does not end up as rumors and gossip.
It is up to you whether this conversation ends as gossip or lasts a long time and serves as a basis for improvement.
I am thankful for you guys who still play this old game with love, despite its forgotten status in Korea.
